- Racers who are hit with items while holding a Flag, or who crash into the environment, will drop their Flag and be unable to pick it up again for 2 seconds.

- The towing effect cannot be applied.
- Auto-Steering, Track Guidelines, Drift Assist, Drift Zones, Item Hints, and Instant Boost Hints are not available in Flag Mode.

New Characters
Four new Racer characters have been added, and can be obtained as Event and Racing Pass rewards and more:
Mobi
"If you've come to Boom South Sea, you must abide by the laws of Boom South Sea!"
The second-in-command amongst the Lodumani Pirates. After meeting and being captivated by Lodumani at a young age, he dreamt of becoming a pirate, and was ultimately recognized for his skills and became second-in-command.
He considers all of Boom South Sea his territory and is very cautious towards strangers and, despite Lodumani betraying and abandoning the pirates, he continues to admire his former captor.
Toto
"I'll show you the wrath of the Lodumani Pirates!"
The third-in-command amongst the Lodumani Pirates, Toto is aggressive and violent, but also a bit clumsy. He was the second-in-command before Mobi joined, and still shows a blind loyalty towards Lodumani.
While jealous at times of Lodumani's favor upon Mobi, he's nonetheless the first to come to the rescue if Mobi is in trouble.
Martin
"When the sun is setting...doesn't it seem as if the ocean is giving a hug to the sun?"
A surfer who's fearless of the rough waves. Just like the sea that changes with the weather, he too has a rather fickle personality.
Though always popular with the ladies and often light in his demeanor, he maintains an unrequited love towards Rena, his childhood friend.
Rena
"Have you ever known the sun to lose its radiance?"
A dancer who's passionate as the summer sun, and she enjoys lying under a parasol with orange juice in hand while listening to music.
Rena knows how to enjoy the romance of a summer night, and despite usually being coy and haughty, she can become tough and aggressive if something sets her off.
