Announcement
Today we would like to talk about the KartRider: Drift improvement plan that our development team is preparing for the near future.
These are changes that we have prepared for KartRider: Drift based on the feedback from a majority of Racers since the game went live earlier this year.
This plan isn't simply for a specific season, and instead is preparation for the future. We want to lay the groundwork for our dev team's ability to keep making changes, and we also want to give you a look at what's in store instead of waiting for a polished version to show off.
Since we will be frank about what content is still being worked on right now, you might feel that some elements are rough or a little lacking. However, these are things that need to be improved for the future, so we ask that you look at the changes with an understanding of their current state.
The dev team has analyzed the game so far based on the feedback you've given, and we have identified a direction for progress with overall improvements being prepared as well.
Our most important goal for future improvements is to create a better experience for players by polishing the in-game gameplay and improving the out-of-race convenience.
We will continue to improve and optimize latency/lag within the game, and continue to polish and refine all elements of gameplay.
We are also working on an overall UI/UX revamp to improve the Racer experience and increase convenience when not in a race. This improvement is not simply a graphical upgrade to the UI, but will also enhance the gameplay convenience for Racers, and create a better user experience.
Along with this, we will be addressing how beginner players are welcomed into KartRider: Drift. We have been studying how new Racers have trouble engaging with the main content after completing the tutorial. We have changes planned out to help address those trouble spots, and improve the game flow across multiple areas.
Some of these changes include removing the License requirement needed to play on certain maps, as well as adding in a practice track that you can hone your skills on while you wait in the queue for a race.
Another aspect we've been looking at has been how KartRider: Drift thus far tried to function the same way across the PC, mobile, and console platforms. However, the different control schemes and requirements for each device has caused inconveniences for players that we are working to sort out. We are striving to create a better experience both in and out of races, on each of the platforms.
With our focus on usability and gameplay convenience, we hope to show you that we're doing better. Core improvements are coming soon, as well as many more changes that are also in progress!
While we're working on upgrading basic gameplay, we are also still creating new content to keep KartRider: Drift feeling fresh. Going forward we will have new game modes to enjoy, new track themes, new karts, new characters, new season passes, and lots more.
We also plan to add at least one new track each month, with a new one coming during the Mid-Season 3 Update.
Our goal is to apply the things we discussed today, starting with Seasons 4 and 5.
We will continue to listen to your feedback and reflect on our own development notes as we work towards a better KartRider: Drift. While not every change may be feasible, we'll do what we can to explain our reasoning for what is and isn't implemented going forward, and we hope to see you along for the ride.
As always, more details on the changes to come will be given around the time of each update.
See you on the tracks.
Thank you,
-JL and the KartRider: Drift Team-
